Upper Canada College’s varsity swim team won the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) overall men’s championship for the fourth straight year, the open championship for the eighth consecutive year and the senior (U20) championship for the third time in four years at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre on Feb. 26.
UCC finished second in the U16 men’s division.
Josh Gold won the men’s open 200-metre freestyle and men’s open 100-metre butterfly events. Hark Ahluwalia won the men’s U20 50-metre backstroke, Ryan Chiu won the men’s open 100-metre breaststroke and Jonathan Brodie won the men’s open 100-metre backstroke. UCC was victorious in the men’s open 200-metre medley relay and men’s open 400-metre freestyle relay.
Gold, Brodie, Chiu, Ahluwalia, Jake Poulton, Jonathan Zhu, Calvin Poon, Andrew Williams, Alek Riley, Yuan Kong, Seth Zucker, Tor Kitching, Raymond Ng, Matt Newland, Liam Black, Nathan Lee, Charles Lee, Marko Sarenac, Matthew Hwang, John Tattersall, Yusef Lakhani and alternates Nathan Tong, Anthony Hua and Emmanuel Wong are representing UCC at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships today and tomorrow at The Wayne Gretzky Centre in Brantford.
UCC’s U14 swim team won its age division and helped UCC finish third overall at the CISAA junior championships at the Magna Centre in Newmarket on Feb. 19. The U13 team was second while the U12 and U11 teams both finished seventh.
Jake Gray won the U14 50-metre freestyle event, Joseph Samuel won the U14 50-metre backstroke and Conrad Dingle won the U12 50-metre breaststroke. UCC came out on top in the mixed U14 200-metre freestyle relay.
