Thirty-two UCC students wrote the Canadian Computing Contest in February with great results. The CCC tests students’ ability to solve four problems algorithmically in three hours. The test is administered by the University of Waterloo math department and is taken by students across Canada and in selected international locations.
Foundation Year students Jacob Beckerman, Logan Ye and Andrew Lamb scored 100 per cent in the junior division and received $100, a plaque and a certificate of distinction. Year 2 student Matthew Hwang scored 72 out of 75 and also received a certificate of distinction.
IB2 student Paul Bardea and IB1 student Derek Lam competed in the senior competition and both achieved the certificate of distinction, denoting that they scored in the top 25 per cent of all competitors (30,000 submissions). Paul is on his way to the University of Waterloo’s computer science department next year.
