Leading education expert Dr. Adam Cox spoke to students at Upper Canada College’s Upper School assembly on Sept. 22 and to parents that evening at Weston Hall.
Cox is a licensed and board-certified clinical psychologist and the founder of the Mighty Good Kids Workshop for Social and Emotional Development. He’s been consulting and writing about the emotional and cognitive development of school-age children for more than a decade and is the author of: On Purpose Before Twenty: Selected Essays; No Mind Left Behind: Understanding and Fostering Executive Control – The Eight Essential Brain Skills Every Child Needs to Thrive; and Boys of Few Words: Raising Our Sons to Communicate and Connect.
Cox is most concerned with the social, academic and emotional development of students, and his methods have been adopted in school systems throughout Canada and the United States. He spoke about how boys build resiliency and the tools they need to get there, as well as how boys express their needs and the methods that can satisfy them.
