The Arts Booster Club and the UCC co-curricular theatre program presented UCC’s first ever mother-son dinner theatre to a sold-out crowd of 176 boys with theirmothers, grandmothers and “special” mothers on March 25. The performance brought renowned director Ravi Jain ’99 to the school for a special performance of his acclaimed, two-person play A Brimful of Asha, starring Ravi and mom Asha.
It was a night for parents and sons to share something they rarely have together – time. And with that came laughter, food, friends and lasting memories.
It all started with a long trail of beautiful rose petals leading to a photo booth, and on tothe student centre, where mothers and sons were treated to a delicious dinner catered by Banjara Indian Cuisine. The boys piled their plates high and then came back for more.
After the meal, mothers and sons laughed together in the David Chu Theatre watching this wonderful, comedic play about a generational and cultural clash between a mom and her son. When the play was over, everyone enjoyed mingling with Ravi and Asha over dessert. And as they left, the boys were surprised by an eye-popping candy bar featuring so many of their favourite treats that they could load up and take home. The moms received a link to all the stunning photos taken during the course of the evening, including their own photos with their sons.
This was a night that was all about moms and their boys. It was truly a night to remember.
