Upper Canada College’s varsity hockey team has won the past two Barrow Tournaments and aims to defend the title at the 12th annual event it’s hosting this weekend.
The Blues went undefeated in last year’s tournament and will try to do that again, starting on Nov. 27 with an 11 a.m. game against Ulysse Prep School in the William P. Wilder ’40 Arena & Sports Complex’s Eaton Rink. The team will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. against Ridley College at the Olympic-sized Mara Rink. UCC’s final round-robin game of the eight-team tourney will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. on the Mara Rink versus Blyth Academy.
Four playoff games will start hourly beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The final game between the top two teams will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Mara Rink. A full tournament schedule can be viewed here.
The Barrow Tournament is named in honour of Barbara Barrow, who served as UCC’s nurse from 1938 to 1980 and left a lasting legacy at the school before passing away in 1994.
