Upper Canada College’s varsity hockey team won its fifth straight Barrow Tournament over the weekend, capping things off with a tight 1-0 victory over Ridley College in the final on Sunday.
UCC hosted the eight-team tournament at its two-rink William P. Wilder ’40 Arena & Sports Complex. The Blues got off to a slow start in their first game on Friday morning, losing a close 1-0 decision to Ulysse Prep School. The team bounced back that evening with a 2-1 win over Ridley.
The Blues defeated Blyth Academy 4-1 to finish off the round robin portion of the tournament with a 2-1 record in their division, which qualified them for a semi-final game against St. Michael’s College School. The Blues were firing on all cylinders and skated away with a 7-1 decision to put the squad into the final against Ridley, which defeated Everest Academy 5-2 in that team’s semi-final game.
