Current Title:
Director, Norval Outdoor School
Academic Background: B.Sc. (University of Waterloo), B.Ed. (University of Toronto)
Work Experience: Spending six summers as a counsellor and canoe trip leader at a camp for youth-at-risk convinced me that I wanted to spend my life teaching outdoors. In my life BC (before children) I worked at Project DARE, Bark Lake and Outward Bound (both in Canada and overseas). Prior to working at UCC, I worked as a science and environmental science teacher for seven years in both East York and York Region. I have been the Norval Director since 1999.
Biography: My favourite memories of being a Prep student in the 1970s were our trips to Norval. I was a city kid who felt most at home in nature. It has been a dream come true to work at Norval for nearly 20 years, and to raise my children with Norval as their backyard. When not at work, you can usually find me with my family out wilderness canoe tripping, hiking , cycling or camping. I love singing, listening to 80s pop music, competitive swimming. My guilty pleasure is reading comic books.
