UCC Varsity swimmers post outstanding results at OFSAA championships

3/6/2009
It was an incredible achievement for UCC’s student athletes at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations’ swimming championships at the Etobicoke Olympium, March 3–4. Out of 327 participating schools, UCC’s combined team finished seventh.

“Nine of the top 10 finishers this year are co-ed high schools that had swimmers in both men’s and women’s events,” says Coach Vlad Roytberg. “We swam less than half the races and still finished seventh. This is truly a reflection on the effort all the guys made this year.”

Adding to the results, the high school boys’ team finished eighth out of 135 schools and the “open” swimmers (members of club teams outside the school) finished seventh overall out of 164 teams with open swimmers.

Roytberg says he is indebted to Martha Copp, parent of Year 2 student Oliver Clark, for her help with parent communications throughout the season.
