UCC art chair David Holt will have his fourth exhibition of paintings at Toronto’s loop Gallery from Sept. 14 to Oct. 6.
The show, titled Illustrated History, is inspired by museum displays and historical archives, catalogues and encyclopedias that invite multiple side-by-side visual comparisons within groups of artworks, artifacts, archeological fragments, nature specimens and other examples of natural and human history. The paintings offer a fresh look at world history through Holt’s playful use of composition and colour.
An opening reception will be held on Sept. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m.
You can learn more about Holt’s work during a question and answer session together with Lanny Shereck that will be moderated by UCC teacher and artist Vesna Krstich at loop on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. prior to Toronto’s Nuit Blanche festivities.
