Upper Canada College’s Board of Governors has commenced the search for the 19th principal of the College by hiring a leading international executive search firm with extensive experience in the independent school and post-secondary education sectors.
The UCC Board has selected Caldwell Partners to work with the search committee to provide a slate of strong candidates and to support the committee in identifying the College’s next principal.
Principal Jim Power will conclude his term as UCC’s principal at the end of the next academic year in June 2016, with the intention of returning to the United States for personal reasons, including family obligations.
Power has accepted a position for next year as head of schools at Culver Academies in Indiana. Located on a 1,800-acre campus, Culver encompasses the Culver Military Academy, the Culver Girls Academy and the Culver Summer Schools & Camps.
“We are proud of his appointment and congratulate him as he embarks on this new journey next year,” said Andy Burgess ’83, chair of the UCC Board of Governors. “In the meantime, I know Jim and his leadership team are looking forward to the academic year ahead, and towards ensuring the transition in leadership is seamless.
