Biography: I oversee ball hockey intramurals and the Role Playing Club at UCC. A life-changing book for me was Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Biography: I’m the first Mandarin teacher at UCC. The most exciting teaching moment was when my students became world champions in the “Chinese Bridge – Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students” in 2010 when I was the Canadian team leader, and in 2013. Before moving to Canada, I taught Chinese language and literature at Shanghai University and was a freelance writer. Confucius said, “You cannot open a book without learning something.” I enjoy reading.

Biography: My interests are diverse and include a passion for
athletics — rugby in particular — and theatre. I hope that my lessons are engaging and include a variety of interactive and memorable educational activities and encourage students to think of language learning as a positive life skill. I worked in England, France and Italy before coming to UCC. I love to travel and have been blessed with a number of opportunities to experience new cultures as a teacher and a rugby player.

Biography: I enjoy playing sports and speaking different languages. I coach U16A soccer in the fall and U14 tennis in the spring. I love travelling and have taught in France and Switzerland and studied in Italy. My parents motivated me to become a language teacher as I always enjoyed imparting knowledge to others and communicating using the languages I’ve studied.

Biography: Born in Santiago, Chile, I’ve been fortunate to have traveled the world and have four wonderful children. I’ve been a teacher all my career, and my favourite subject to teach is Spanish Literature. I love it because it never stops to surprise and delight me how students react, interpret, and understand the works. One of my favourite activities outside of teaching is not really a hobby, but a passion, which is bridge. I learned over many years in many countries, and through the game I’ve met many fabulous, interesting people.
