  • Learning Models

    In September under our hybrid learning model, Upper School students will be organized into two groups by House and will study four courses in rotation over the course of the 2020-21 academic year. Groups will alternate school days between in-school learning and at-home learning. Learning models will shift as the current situation demands.

  • Routines

    To allow for physical distancing, there will be restrictions regarding where students can be in the school, and when they can arrive and leave the building. Students will enter and exit through specified Year-level doors and remain in particular areas of the building during the day.

    Our co-curricular program offerings will be as full and varied as possible while respecting physical distancing, cohorting measures and health guidelines. As guidelines change, we will keep you updated on clubs, activities and other co-curricular programs.

The Physical Environment
The College is committed to ensuring a safe learning and working environment. We will arrange classroom furniture to leave as much space as possible between students. The College will create specific routes for students to get to and from classrooms, including designated entry and exit points. 

Assessment and Requirements for Graduation
To the greatest extent possible, assessment, evaluation and reporting activities will proceed as usual. Report cards will be provided for all students, including those who may plan to participate only through remote learning. Where assessment approaches have relied on exams, culminating activities, such as performance tasks, demonstrations, projects, and essays can be used instead to determine students’ grades or marks. We will ensure that our Upper School program of study allows students to fulfill the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and supports their postsecondary pathway destinations. The College will follow ongoing guidance provided by the Ministry of Education and the International Baccalaureate, and will ensure adapted program delivery supports student completion of both diplomas.

Uniforms
As students will not have access to lockers or changing areas, we are suspending the requirement for the UCC uniform. If a full schedule of in-person classes resumes, we may opt to, over time, return to the regular school uniform. While there may be occasions where some students are asked to wear First Dress, daily school attendance will require only the following: 
  • Clean clothing: Students must wear clothing that is clean each day.
  • PPE: Please stay tuned for more information on this requirement, to be aligned with health and government guidelines. 
  • UCC on top: A UCC team, House or club shirt, sweatshirt, hoodie, or quarter-zip. 
  • Pants on bottom: Long, unripped pants (with shorts for activities to be worn underneath).
  • Close-toed shoes
