At Upper Canada College, we are dedicated to providing transformational learning experiences that fulfill our vision and mission to foster the development of head, heart and humanity and inspire boys to be their best selves.
UCC’s Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) provides support to students that empowers them to grow and progress toward academic learning objectives and attend to their wellbeing. The CLP ensures learning continues for all students, and provides the boys with daily face-to-face interactions, access to daily lessons, curriculum, learning material and support.
The CLP enables our community to connect and feel connected and gives students the opportunity to participate in live online classrooms and also engage in independent study.
The nature of the CLP learning experiences differs across the year levels, to ensure that learning is age-appropriate and navigable for students and their families. These learning experiences include real-time live instruction with teachers and other students, recorded lessons or posted tasks and work that can be completed by the student at any time, face-to-face online chats, individual or small group work, and activities posted online. The Prep School follows a three-day schedule, which can be found in the Continuous Learning Plan.
While we teach and learn online, support and guidance will continue to be available from the Wilder Library during the school day via the Google Meet platform. Students may contact library staff by email, and sign up for scheduled formal consultation during office hours.
Library staff will offer a recorded read-aloud once daily; one more suited to the younger grades and one for our older students. Those read-alouds will be made available on your child’s SeeSaw or ManageBac platform.
The CLP enables our community to connect and feel connected and gives students the opportunity to participate in live online classrooms and also engage in independent study. This format is well suited to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP) as both are built around a degree of independent work and self-study.
The Upper School follows an eight-day schedule, and includes a combination of real-time study and interaction with the teacher and classmates, independent study, support and advising, and assessments. The schedule can be found in the Continuous Learning Plan.
While we teach and learn online, research support and guidance will continue to be available from staff in the Macintosh Library during the school day via Google Hangouts/Meet. Students may also contact librarians via email.
