UCC celebrates community stories of encouragement and hope

With week two of Continuous Learning at UCC under wraps, we reflect on and celebrate some community stories of encouragement and hope.
  • Our Senior Kindergarten Kindness Ninjas have been hard at work spreading positivity! They took part in the "Tutto andra' bene," or “Everything will turn out OK” movement that started in Italy by sharing rainbow pictures with encouraging words in their windows and outside to spread cheer.
  • Thanks to the talents and dedication of Prep Librarians Pam Love and Sarah Basinski, students and their families now have new audiobook recordings to enjoy from home. Ms. Love spent the time to record audio versions of great books with Loom for the enjoyment of our students.
  • Our Lang Scholars donated their service project funds to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada in response to the crisis.
  • Faculty and staff are leading efforts to donate gloves and create face masks for health professionals. The UCC Science department recently donated all their Nitrile gloves to Michael Garron Hospital, and our design teachers, led by Upper School design technician Erica Charbonneau, are creating masks for healthcare professionals using the College’s 3D printers. The first batch of face masks was dropped off at Sunnybrook Hospital on April 3.
These are just a few heartening examples of how we’re continuing to live our values of service and community. Do you have something you’d like to share with the UCC community? Send your news to sstylianou@ucc.on.ca
