UCC 2021–22

UCC 2021–22

Our School Year | 2021–22

As UCC welcomes students back to campus for the 2021–22 academic year, we are committed to providing transformational learning experiences that foster the development of head, heart and humanity and inspire our students to be their best selves. With the health and safety of our community as our top priority, our plans are guided by public health and the Ministry of Education as well as our commitment to offering a safe and healthy learning environment.

UCC 2021-22 Highlights:

  • As students from SK–Year 12 transition back to in-school learning and new routines, they will be supported by their teachers, advisers, the Health Centre and the Wernham West Centre for Learning.
  • UCC will offer as full a co-curricular program as possible, including arts, athletics and clubs.
  • Our layered approach to health and safety includes physical distancing, daily screening, masking and enhanced cleaning and ventilation.
  • UCC has a detailed Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) which will be implemented if we need to shift learning models due to local health circumstances.

Campus health and safety:

There is not one measure that will prevent exposures and transmissions from occurring in schools but rather a layering or ‘bundling’ of public health measures, including physical distancing, cohorting screening, masking, hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, cohorting, enhanced cleaning and ventilation, and exclusion of students and employees when they are symptomatic.
Keeping our community safe:
  • Daily screening using the REACH app.
  • Mandatory vaccination policy for all eligible students and employees accessing the campus.
  • Routine rapid antigen screening for students who are ineligible to receive vaccinations.
  • Guidelines around mask wearing and physical distancing while on campus.
  • Hand sanitizing stations across campus and in learning spaces.
  • Signs reminding students, employees and visitors of the required health and safety protocols.
  • Daily records of people entering the school to support contact tracing.
