Boarding Routines
Our boarding program welcomes students from around the world to study and live at the College. In preparation for our return to campus this fall, we're busy readying our facilities and training boarding staff to ensure that every student can reach their academic potential while expanding their co-curricular interests and developing lifelong friendships.
The College’s learning model will help students develop the thinking, inquiry and time management skills required for success at university and beyond.
Class cohorts will be timetabled, and boarding house learning/living cohorts will be created to maximize learning opportunities within each of our residences. The school day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.
Wellbeing
Our vibrant boarding community is supported by our Health Centre, the Wernham West Centre for Learning and our dedicated boarding team of senior house advisers and resident assistants. To ensure a smooth transition back to campus, our boarding team will be communicating with all students the health rules and regulations that are now in place to support the wellbeing of our community.
The main dining hall at UCC (Upper Dining Hall) will be used only by boarding students this year. There will be three meals served each day with two sittings for each meal. Boarders will eat only with their boarding cohort. There will be a boxed evening snack prepared for dinner pick-up.
Boarding Life Program
UCC’s boarding program provides students with safe and healthy co-curricular programs. Our co-curricular programming will be designed to operate following the daily school schedule and will adhere to current health guidelines. The roster of weekend activities will include cycling, hiking, tennis, cricket, and community service amongst others.
Evenings in boarding feature a range of offerings that include academic study, co-curricular enrichment and hobby development.
UCC has made the commitment to keep the boarding houses open during long weekends in the fall term. Should restrictive travel and quarantine regulations be instituted, UCC will provide on-campus accommodation during other long weekends and holidays only when other options are not possible.
