Wernham West Centre for Learning |
Innovative academic support to help students reach their full potential
A landmark gift from Richard Wernham and Julia West established UCC's Wernham West Centre for Learning in 2001.
Our esteemed WWCfL supports learning and teaching excellence at the Prep and the Upper School. Expert staff recognize and foster students’ unique learning styles, helping them become their own self-advocates within the IB Continuum. The centre also provides support for faculty in developing students’ capacity and character as global citizens, and is a hub for thought leadership and best-practice strategies within the broader educational community.
Four mandates guide the work of the WWCfL:
- Facilitating a greater understanding of each student's unique learning style and helping him develop strategies for success.
- Providing individualized learning support as needed.
- Cultivating professional development for our faculty and acting as a resource for our families.
- Connecting with other schools and organizations to develop research relationships and networks.

A Connected Approach
Throughout the learning journey, boys are supported to be, do and feel their best
Students are known and cared for at UCC — and expert faculty and staff are there for them every step of the way.
Formalized support is provided through a network of offerings at the Prep and Upper School, including a robust advising program promoting wellbeing as well as academic and personal growth. Our two health centres are staffed with a psychologist, counsellors and nurses. Students also receive support from mentors and leadership facilitators, coaches and trainers, university counsellors and technology integrators.
