Wellbeing & Support at Toronto's Top Boys School

A Whole-School Approach

Our students’ physical, mental and emotional health is our highest priority

At UCC, boys have access to a wide range of opportunities and services to support their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. Our comprehensive systems ensure each student is guided and cared for at every stage of his learning journey and can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. In addition to supportive faculty, our team of experts includes counsellors, nurses, a psychologist and a social worker, providing personalized care across the Prep and Upper School. Physical health is prioritized by coaches and trainers, registered nurses, and athletic therapists.

A strong sense of belonging is equally central. Mentorship programs, affinity groups in the Upper School, and the Allyship Council in the Prep foster inclusion and community.

Through the following framework, UCC cultivates wellbeing in every form, helping students grow resilient, socially confident and academically successful within an inclusive environment.

Houses and Advising

UCC's Colour Houses at the Prep and our House System at the Upper School are central parts of life at UCC. Students are organized into these smaller groups for a diverse range of activities, including intramural sports, creating connection camaraderie.

Our advising programming is another vital component of our approach to wellbeing, helping boys develop the knowledge, self-awareness and strength of character that will allow them to flourish. The guidance and mentorship provided by faculty advisers as well as student mentors in older year-levels play a crucial role in boys' development.

The Upper School’s house system builds belonging and allows us to deliver a robust and rewarding advising program. The focus is on connection and support, as well as the ability to have discussions that might not be covered in the classroom setting.
