Immersive Learning that Inspires

Collaboration and problem-solving are emphasized at Norval

One of UCC’s core offerings is programming at the Norval Outdoor School, our 450-acre second campus located 40 minutes north of Toronto in Norval, Ont. Students learn about nature and environmental stewardship and develop an enhanced awareness of the role they can play in sustainability and regeneration.

The Norval learning journey evolves as students grow, including overnight stays that foster both independence and community. Team-building and problem-solving activities build skills, confidence and lasting friendships. By Year 9, boys will have amassed 11 weeks of outdoor learning.

At Norval, it’s all about making connections — with nature, with curricular classroom learning, and with each other. Norval's unique, age-and-stage appropriate offerings put the accent on teamwork and appreciation of the environment.

Here, students learn to take risks safely, and develop an enhanced awareness of the environment, ecosystems and their ethical responsibility to conserve them. Our alumni often tell us their time spent at Norval inspired a lifelong appreciation of nature.

Norval hosts five family open houses for the UCC community annually, including a spring Maple Madness event focusing on maple syrup making, as well as cross-country skiing in winter and pumpkin carving in the autumn.

We’re proud to share our Norval campus with the broader educational community. Students from visiting schools foster their curiosity and environmental awareness, and build skills and confidence.
