Service at UCC | Community Service for Boys

Living our Service Value

Focusing on head, heart and humanity

Service opportunities at UCC — which can range from local, national to international projects — are grounded in the creation of equitable partnerships through which boys learn more about themselves and their potential to make a lasting and positive impact on their world. Recent service highlights have included our participation in the Climate Accelerator Action Program, aimed at building and implementing school-wide climate and nature strategies that inspire learning, leadership and action.

Service learning at UCC

Service and community engagement begin in the Preparatory School through the IB Primary Years Programme’s (PYP) Action component. Service is integrated into inquiry units, inspiring hands-on projects such as planting in the learning garden or visiting seniors’ residences. The PYP Exhibition empowers students to pursue independent inquiries and take meaningful action — whether conducting yard waste surveys or performing campus accessibility audits — fostering early stewardship and responsibility.

In the Upper School, service learning deepens and expands. Students engage in environmental initiatives, take part in international trips, and lead community programs such as Relay for Life. Student clubs, including Helping Hands, offer additional opportunities to contribute.

The IB Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component provides a framework for projects, ranging from short-term initiatives to year-long commitments, giving students local, national and international experiences that cultivate leadership, empathy and civic responsibility.

As a community, we're committed to inspiring and empowering each UCC boy to take bold action towards a healthier, more just and ecologically abundant future.
