Disappointing End to Blues Season.

On a soggy afternoon, the JV Football Blues once again faced their foes from Aurora to determine St. Michael's opponent in the CISAA Junior Final. The Blues  worked hard all week to prepare for this very important game and we were disappointed to see the game turn out the way that it did; a fate that the boys did not deserve. The game started a little slow as both teams battled the rain and slick conditions. It wasn't until the second quarter that the Saints were able to break through scoring two unanswered touchdowns and a safety taking a 16-0 lead. Offensively the Blues struggled a bit throughout the game but momentum seemed to change a bit when Jason Lee interecepted a pass in the dying seconds of the first half rerturning it for a touchdown cutting the Saints lead to a score of 16-7 heading into the intermission.  The Blues defence continued to be stingy making life very difficult for the Saints all afternoon. The Blues had their chances as they returned two punts for touchdowns but had them unfortunately called back due to penalties. In the end the Blues fell short losing the game 22-7 which brought our season to a sad conclusion. Despite this loss, there were some great signs for the Blues as they move forward. There is a talented group of Grade 9 boys who we hope return to the squad next year where we will work to improve on this year's campaign. The coaching staff would like to thank the boys for a great season and hope that they enjoyed the experience enough to stay with the program for years to come.
