UCC’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) sets the strategic direction of the College and leads its implementation, ensuring appropriate resources are in place and effectively managed to achieve the College’s goals. The SLT is accountable for ensuring high standards of excellence across academics, programs, operations and advancement opportunities.

  • Sam McKinney


    Sam is the 19th Principal of Upper Canada College. Under his leadership, the College has set a course for the next decade — through its Strategic Directions: Towards 2029. Sam chairs the Senior Leadership Team and reports to the Board of Governors.

  • Naheed Bardai

    Head, Upper School

    Naheed is responsible for leading, coaching and developing Upper School faculty and staff, and ensuring the delivery of excellence in teaching and learning, resulting in transformational student experiences for students in Year 8 through 12.
  • Tanya Sweeney

    Head, Preparatory School

    Tanya leads the College's Prep faculty and staff to deliver excellence in teaching and learning for students in Senior Kindergarten through Year 7. 
  • Julia Kinnear

    Academic Dean

    Julia oversees the College's academic program, from Senior Kindergarten through Year 12. She leads all International Baccalaureate elements, curriculum development, and the Wernham West Centre for Learning.
  • Scott Cowie

    Dean of Student Life and Wellbeing

    Scott oversees the College’s whole-school approach to co-curricular programs including Athletics, Creativity, Activity & Service, Horizons and Norval. He also leads the College’s wellbeing programs and services.
  • Patti MacNicol

    Vice-Principal, Administration and Innovation

    Patti is the Vice-Principal of Administration and Innovation and is responsible for all non-academic services including finance, IT, facilities, food services, housekeeping, security, rental operations, and UCC's Summer Camps and Summer Life programs.
  • Brendan Dellandrea ’01

    Vice-Principal, Advancement

    Brendan supervises all annual and special fundraising, capital campaigns, alumni and constituent relations, and all community and school-wide communications. Brendan also leads the implementation of school-wide strategic development.
  • David McBride

    Vice-Principal, Enrolment


    David is responsible for the recruitment and admission of new students and for external marketing of the College locally and world-wide. He travels the globe to meet with prospective families and our parent and Old Boy communities.
  • Thomas Lindell

    Vice-Principal, People and Organizational Development

    Thomas leads the human resource function, directing leadership development, succession planning, employee relations, recruitment, policies and compliance, change management and organizational development.
