The Blue Booster Club and the Blue Army Generals are major part of Upper Canada College's athletic program, driving school spirit and supporting student athletes.
Blues Booster Club
The Blues Booster Club (BBC) fosters school spirit through the athletic programs in the Prep and Upper Schools, boosts awareness of athletic events and celebrates athletic performance.
The foundation of the BBC is the team parent program. Every team in the school is assigned one or two team parents who liaise with the coach, team and parents. Their main areas of responsibility include communication and spirit-raising activities.
The BBC works closely with the Board of Stewards and Blue Army generals to plan and co-ordinate spirit-raising activities for parents and students at all major athletic events.
The BBC also contributes news and photos to the UCC website and social media to highlight all athletic teams within the UCC community. Click here to learn how to share your photos.
Blue Army Generals
The Blue Army Generals co-ordinate spirit rallies and half-time activities, and develop team support for A Day, Friday Night Lights, Winterfest, May Day and many athletic competitions throughout the year. They also work with the BBC executive on all these events.
The Blue Army General positon is available to all boys, not just athletes. IB1 boys submit a declaration in the spring of their IB1 year and assume the role at May Day. The BBC has two Generals. The applicants must be enthusiastic, reliable and possess leadership skills.
The UCC Blue Army was founded in 2010 as a vehicle to galvanize and channel school spirit at athletic events and assemblies. Inspired by Manchester United’s “Red Army” of fans, the Blue Army’s inaugural year proved to be a huge success with UCC’s sports teams enjoying unprecedented student support at home and away games.
The Blue Army is a group of dynamic, enthusiastic, hardworking, responsible and fun students whose mission it is to represent and encourage school spirit, pride and excitement.
