The U12 boys headed home from Montreal on Saturday night with gold medals around their necks after an impressive showing at the LCC Invitational Tournament. Winning all 5 games played, the Blues played a consistent team game and stuck to the plan in order to come out victorious. They began the tournament after a slushy drive in to LCC with a win against St. John's Ravenscourt on Thursday. They arrived to the rink Friday morning, determined and focused as they were able to beat both Crestwood and Stanislas to win the group and head to the gold semi-finals. On Championship Saturday, the Blues faced off aganst a tough Kuper Academy team which challenged UCC to be resilient and battle through adversity. UCC pulled off the 3-1 victory which paved their way to the Gold Final against the host team, LCC. Determined to finish the job, UCC came out of the gate with strength and speed as they were able to keep the puck in the offensive zone for much of the game. They maintained puck possession and were able to get many shots on net to start the game which allowed them to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. UCC kept pressing and were able to add to their lead throughout the course of the game. The boys held on, and even stopped a penalty shot late in the game to keep the lead and eventually win the game and the tournament. Both Coach Cloutier and Coach Delost are extremely proud of the boys for their hard work and determination. They deserved the tournament win and were able to demonstrate a high level of character and class throughout the weekend. Great job, boys!
