Kalil Shaw ’17
Kal is a sophomore at Princeton University, studying electrical engineering on a pre-medical track. He has been a research assistant in Professor Claire Gmachl’s Lab developing highly sensitive noninvasive sensors. Recently, he became a co-founder of Alira Infrared Biosensing, a startup company focused on bringing this technology from the lab to the public. Kal continues to volunteer for Engineers Without Borders’ Kenya Chapter and Musical Outreach in New Jersey, and he chairs Minds on Math, a charity he founded for marginalized students back home in the GTA. In his spare time, Kal stays active playing on the Princeton Club Soccer Team.
