Ali Merali ’02

Ali was elected to Council in 2021. He played an active role in organizing alumni in support of maintaining and strengthening UCC’s Boarding Program when it was under strategic review. Ali is currently the Head of Strategic Initiatives at Tricon Residential, where he manages the Company's strategic initiatives and operational priorities. Prior to his current role, Ali served as the Chief of Staff and Head of Special Projects for COVID-19 Response Efforts at UofT’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health and supported Ontario’s Science Advisory Table. Prior to working on pandemic response efforts in Ontario, Ali served in various strategy and operational leadership roles at Via Transportation, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and on President Obama’s Campaigns and in the Obama Administrations. Ali holds a BSc from Cornell University and an MPP from Harvard University.
