UCC students receive high marks in math contests

Upper Canada College students have excelled in recent math contests.
Arthur Wang, Tony Zheng, Jacob Cho, Louis Guo, Andrew Radin, Evan Adams, Caleb Chong, Qiushi Han and Owen Liu achieved high scores in the University of Waterloo’s Canadian Intermediate Mathematics Contest. The nine-question, two-hour contest is designed to give students in Grade 10 and below the opportunity to have fun and develop their math problem-solving abilities.

A number of UCC students also took part in the Mathematical Association of America’s AMC 8 contest. AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice exam in middle school math designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. It provides an opportunity for students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and math that can assist in future careers.
