UCC's Wellbeing Approaches Profiled

Upper Canada College’s steadfast commitment to implementing novel wellbeing strategies has been profiled in a special interest feature on private schools in the October issue of Maclean’s.
Dean of Student Life and Wellbeing Scott Cowie was interviewed about the bold steps the College is taking to ensure that wellbeing is at the forefront of our efforts to provide transformational learning experiences for our boys, including the addition of our full-time psychologist Dr. Geoff Sorge last year, special training for health centre staff, and the creation of the Casey Fellows Program for Mental Health and Student Wellbeing to host world-renowned experts in the field, made possible by generous donor Matthew Casey ’83.

Cowie emphasizes the importance of recognizing the multi-dimensional qualities of wellbeing and their impact on various aspects of students’ lives, as well as the need for both proactive and responsive approaches to developing each boy’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional self.
