A curriculum founded in the IB
UCC has been recognized throughout its nearly 200-year history for its high academic standards and its delivery of IB Programmes has enhanced that reputation. The IB offers the world’s best curricular framework for achieving our goal to meet the learning needs of our students.
No matter at what entry level a boy begins, the impact of the IB is clear. It's evident from a boy’s early days in his Preparatory School classrooms to his march across the stage during his Leaving Class Ceremony. It's reflected in the long list of university destinations and the impressive range of university program studies that our graduates choose each year. Distinguished by its superior international education standards and rigorous assessment, it’s not surprising that the IB Diploma Programme is globally recognized as the “gold standard” in post-secondary preparation.
Each boy’s journey may differ from those of his classmates, but our students share a common quest to achieve in a wide range of pursuits, not solely academics. UCC boys are indeed knowledgeable, reflective thinkers who are having a positive impact on the world.
We're confident that all of our IB Programmes, and UCC’s overall approach to learning, have enriched the experience of each student who walks our halls. We provide transformational learning experiences and inspire each boy in his learning journey towards actualizing his “best self.”
Teachers who model the pursuit of excellence
Just as our students strive to become better, so, too, do our faculty and the College itself. Strong believers in lifelong learning, our teachers regularly commit to IB workshops and training that broaden their horizons and upgrade their own mastery.
That quest for mastery is not focused on gaining prizes or new degrees, although they are certainly both wonderful things to acquire. It's about becoming a better thinker and learner, and about being open to new opportunities and ideas.
At UCC, the entire community values learning as a journey rather than a destination as we all move toward the prize of our best self. We believe it’s important to find purpose and meaning, to enjoy the gift of collaboration with others and to know that, when faced with challenges, tenacity helps you on the path to growth and improvement.
