Nail biter of a semi-final win vs AC
In a tight affair, UCC came out in a flurry to quickly put the pressure on Appleby College to get out to an early lead. Despite a ton of possession and pressure in the opposiing end, Appleby struck first on a 35 yard shot off a counter attack to go up 1-0. Nearing the end of the first half, it took a strong shot by Arbaaz Ebrahim from way out to beat the keeper but not the post. Harris Dickinson slotted in the rebound to nod things up at 1-1.
The second half was full of possession by UCC as Appleby went down 2 men due to accumulation of yellow cards. Playing a much more defensive formation, UCC found it difficult to crack the AC defence as it ended 1-1 after regulation. Overtime was much the same i.e. one way traffic. Having a goal called back due to an offside, it went to a PK shootout. UCC came out victorious 3-2 in penalties with some big saves made by Tiger Xie. Great team effort by all.
It's off to the final vs SMC on Tuesday afternoon @ 1:30 pm.
