U16 Blues Draw First Blood in Truculent Affair in Port Hope

UCC took to the ice for their season opening game in Port Hope at Trinity College School.
Wednesday November 21st, 2018
The Blues started the 2018-19 season with a bang, defeating host Trinity College School 4-1. The Blues faced a feisty and battle-hardened opponent who have been practicing and playing games together since September. To our boys’ credit they were able to control most of the play and played like a team after only one practice.
The most notable performances were put in by winger Jack Kedwell #24 – who scored a hat trick, and by dominant defenseman Cameron Scott, who fired a laser into the top corner and notched an assist. Unsung heroes Dave Wood, who played both wing and defense, and relentless forechecker Luke Pitblado, both earned assists. Smooth skating Edward Moskowitz was a force at both ends of the ice, but was frustratingly held pointless.
Some of the Bears’ more tenacious players were able to disrupt the Blues game plan by goading players into taking ill-advised penalties. Fortunately, goaltender Dylan Meanchos and the defense held firm, limiting TCS to a single goal on 7 power play chances.
This year’s team is fast, skilled and physical. Coaches Choptiany and Hoel would like to thank the boys for their effort. The Blues look forward to their next game against SAC in Aurora on November 28th.
