CAIS National Champions

By way of great displays of heart, courage, ferocity and skill the Upper Canada College Blues have claimed their first CAIS National title since 1999.
This week, the Varsity Rugby team had the opportunity to compete in the CAIS National Rugby Championship in Hamilton.

The team opened the tournament by defeating a motivated Ashbury College team, showcasing the trademark offensive skills that would be on full display throughout the tournament. After closing the first day with a hard-fought victory over TCS, UCC entered the elimination round as the top seed in the tournament.

The elimination round opened with a game against Appleby, and despite a difficult first half, UCC was able to emerge victorious, setting up a final against rival SAC.

On Saturday morning, the boys competed in frigid conditions, and found themselves facing adversity by falling behind early in the game. UCC showed resilience by driving down the field and responding with a try of their own. From there, UCC took over, using their explosive offence to put SAC on their heels, and dominating the rest of the game. UCC won the game by a final score of 40-5, capturing the CAIS National Championship for the first time since 1999.

Thank you to everyone who came out to watch our boys compete, your support for our team is a huge reason for our success.
