Varsity Badminton Wins Close Match vs Crescent School
(May 13th, 2019) – The rematch versus Crescent School proved to be an equally competitive affair, although a reconfiguration of the Coyotes’ line-up gave a different complexion to the matches. Crescent’s talented 1st singles player Ivan Cheng was moved to 1st doubles and performed, along with his partner, at a very high level that UCC’s Sharavanan Kirupakaran and Justin Zhou could not match. 2nd doubles pairing Andy Wang and Dustin Yang fared better against their opponents, who were not of the same caliber, winning two straight in convincing fashion. Christopher Chong had a tough outing against Crescent’s #1 singles player, but added more experience to his playbook that will serve him well when he heads into the highly competitive CISAA Tournament next week. Both Alexander Chow (2nd singles) and PJ Bujouves (3rd singles) dispatched of their opponent in straight-forward, two game wins. Final Score: Upper Canada 3 Crescent 2. Over the past week, the team has been involved in a number of highly competitive matches, which has accelerated the development of each player. The last league game is tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. against St. Michael’s College.
