John Hockin ’89

John Hockin was appointed to the Board of Governors in 2026. 

John is the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Sea Cliff Partners in San Francisco. He has more than thirty years of experience in investment banking at organizations like Morgan Stanley, J.H Whitney & Co, Golden Gate Capital and KKR. 

John is also a member of UCC’s Association Council. During his time at the College, John won the Lieutenant Governor Medal in 1987 and 1988. He holds a BA in economics from Yale University and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business (Arjay Miller Scholar). While at Yale, John successfully launched and sold a baseball hat company called J&J Lids.

John and his wife Lisa have four daughters — Haley, Emily, Annie and Sophie.
