Boys poured their hearts out on the floor and took a win for all 4 games leaving nothing behind! This allowed them to snag the title of CISAA champs for their division and of course the excitement at the end was indescribable! A wonderful way to end the season and big thanks to all the parents and Nigel White for all the support throughout!
The boys last night faced SHS for their first time this season. Although we initially took and maintained a lead until half time, SHS played their stronger members going into the 2nd and despite losing our advantage, our boys continued to play strong throughout. In practices, we need to hone in our ball handling and defensive skills a bit more to avoid easy turnovers.
Coming off a high from their game the night before, the boys came together and played a strong game right from the start giving us a big advantage into the 2nd quarter. Their offense and defense were their best yet and the communication between players has truly grown. The boys should be proud and now look with confidence into their next games remanining of the season.
The boys pivoted, powered forward and persevered against Bayview Glen School this afternoon. After eight periods of intense play and the buzzer sounded signaling the team’s first win of the season, I don’t know who was cheering louder – the team amongst themselves or their BLUE ARMY in the stands!! Two pics are attached of the CHAMPS of the day J
To catch more of the action and if you are able, you are invited to come cheer on the team at UCC’s WINTERFEST tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 25) at 3pm vs. Crescent School in the Old Upper School Gym.
The boys faced SAC for their first time this season last night. SAC played a very strong offense and made easy steals off us allowing them a big advantage before halftime. The team realized they needed to refocus better in the 2nd half and made wonderful baskets showing team working skills. A week of break for the boys to regroup, practice and make plans before our next game.
The U12B boys came together for their 2nd time playing as a team for 3 games on Friday night. Facing tough schools with developed teams, the boys put up a fight and dug deep to find their endurance and stamina to give it their all on the court. Seeing a big improvement from their first game, although we were unable to snag a win, their skills and team communication have gotten better allowing them to score several baskets each game and not allowing a drastic difference in score.
Yesterday evening, the U12B team faced Crestwood in our first game of the season. Right away, Crestwood challenged us and pushed the boys to their limits in scoring multiple baskets allowing them to gain a strong lead within the first quarter itself. Although our defence became stronger in the 2nd half, we were unable to shorten the score gap. Regardless of the outcome, this was the first time the boys were coming together as a team and it had them understand the importance of communication, driving to the net and how defensive positioning is crucial. I truly believe reflecting on where we could strengthen our plays in practices would motivate and encourage the boys to persevere and look to the upcoming games with a fresh mind.
