On a very cold and windy day, we took on Crestwood Preparatory College. As a result of the weather, both teams made a number of errors. Lots of balls in the air were caught by the wind, lots of shots at the goalie and lots of clustering meant we weren't playing our game. Krishna opened the scoring on a pass from Mitch. CPC tied it up quickly and then took the lead. Krishna added another to make it 2-2. No scoring in the second half.
On the last summer day of the year, we headed all the way out to Albert College for a game against their combined U14 and U16 team. Mitch opened the scoring on a pass from Alex and Alexi added a long ball shot. AC answered back with a beautiful top corner shot to make it 2-1. From then on, it was all UCC: Luca Q scored a great long shot from outside the 18 yard box; Alex added another goal; Vikram knocked in a corner from Luca; Alex added another goal from outside the 18 yard box; with their off foot, Noah, Vikram and James added one each and Krishna finished it off with a header. The final score was 10-1.
We had a great start to the game, dominating possession and making lots of shots, unfortunately, none of them materialized into goals. Thirty minutes into the first half, we were caught sleeping on a throw in and HTS scored. HTS had a breakaway and earned a penalty shot, which they scored on. 2-0. Our keeper was flattened by a HTS player and the ref awarded a very unfair penalty shot to HTS. 3-0. HTS squeaked in another corner with only minutes to go. The final score was 4-0. The score was not reflective of the boys' effort and teamwork which was outstanding.
On a beautiful A-Day, we took on SAC in an exhibition game. The first half of the game was pretty evenly matched and SAC opened the scoring about 20 minutes in off a corner, but that was all the goals they would score. While we had a few chances early on, no goals materialized. Vaanan scored our first on a pass from Hayden, Hayden had a long run and scored our second, Stanger scored our third off of a corner, Alex scored a beautiful top shelf goal after a missed corner for our fourth and Karam added our final goal with two seconds left in the game. The boys did a great job passing and working as a team for the 5-1 win.
For our first game of the season, we headed to Port Hope to take on TCS on their homecoming weekend. The game began with a frenetic pace and continued like this into the second half. At the beginning, we were clumping and struggling to keep the ball down, but as the game progressed, we slowed the pace and began to find a rhythm. TCS scored two goals in the first half and we had a few more chances in the second half but no luck. It was a very aggressive game with many calls not going our way.
