Our UCC Blues won the match at St. Michael's College School in three sets, but it was no easy task.
In the second set the boys came back from a 9 point deficit to win 25-22.
And set three was a real 'cliff hanger' that went to 31 points - our longest game of the season by far with key clutch points by Henry K. The entire team played hard and worked as a well coordinated unit. Way to go BLUES!
This win also means that the league finals will be hosted here at UCC on Nov. 3rd. See you then!
Friday's tournament was another great day of volleyball. We were missing two boys from our regualr lineup and this gave us a chance to try many new options and configurations. The hits were coming from everywhere across the net.
The JV BLUES finished the round-robin part of the day second in their pool.
We lost in the quarter finals against the tournament hosts UXBRIDGE Secondary School in a very tight match that went to three sets with close scores in each game.
The boys were great on and off the court. They played hard and remained positive and gentlemanly all day. Captian Jack W. was selected as our MVP for the day.
Our BLUES were able to keep momentum and stay on their game in three straight sets against RSGC today. Special mention to Peter W who had quite a run of serves in set two and - along with our other middle hitters - brought a quick attack from the centre of the net to score some key points. Our attack is really developing - becoming more varied and therefore hard to beat! We're off to Uxbridge on Friday for a full day!
We had a big day of volleyball with many tests to strengthen our team in a variety of line-up configurations. The JV BLUES finished the round-robin part of the day at the top of their pool.
We then won the quarter finals and advainced to meet St. Michael's College School in the semi finals. We won two challenging sets against St. Mike's to move to the finals.
Here our winning streak ended against a highly competitive team from Pierre Elliot Trudeau HS (they won their pool earlier in the day).
The coaches would like to commend all the boys on their play and their conduct today.
Our Blues really showed up to play today converting a number of long rallies into significant point wins. They've been working hard on blocking this week in practice and we saw some of those results today at the net against SAC. Lukas T and Eric A came up big with some game stopping blocks.
After a rough start Sat. morning (and down two sets) our BLUES came back strong in 3 straight sets to win their match against Crescent. Led by the precision sets of captain Jack W. and a crushing back court attack by Justin B. the boys really rose to the occasion.
